This is a criticism to the surprise theory still current and authoritative since established half a century ago by a well-known hitorian of arts Yukio Yashiro on Botticelli's "the Annunciation" in the Uffizi Museum. The paper proposes a view of Virgin Mary's ecstatic moment she has just conceived the seed of God. The view is examined through the Renaissance Humanism, the painter's contemporary thought milieu, to reach the conclusion that the picture is the rare case of the happy unity of Humanism and Cathoric mysticism, and a masterpiece of the then dominant arts and literary theory ut pictura_poesis
