コンピュータは、はたして、文献学が現在陥っているジレンマを解決してくれるのか。その答えを探るために、ここではそのジレンマを、カフカのテクスト編集を具体例に説明する。カフカの草稿を忠実に編集しようとして、3種類のカフカ全集が出版された。その最新のものが示す型破りな形態は、草稿への忠実の追求が、じつは、紙の本というメディアの限界への挑戦だったことを明らかにしている。とすれば、コンピュータという新しいメディアに何を託すべきか。草稿という存在がもつ文学的意味を考えながら、学術的編集において今後コンピュータが担うべき役割を示唆する。This paper describes the dilemma into which scholarly editing has lapsed for the past thirty years, using Kafka-editing as an example. Following the publication of the complete edition by Max Brod, two different types of critical editions were released in order to explore the faithful reproduction of his hand written manuscript. The unconventional form of the latest one reveals the many limitations of the book-form media. Since computer as a media offers new possibilities for the presentation of text, a fresh type of critical editing has the potential to be realized. This study suggests the general direction future computer editions may take.
