Land snails of the Genus Parmarion belonging to the family Helicarionidae include two species (HOFFMANN, 1940). The specimen of Parmarion martensi SIMROTH, 1893, reported in this paper was collected by Mr. K. UOZUMI on January 2th, 1975 from Ishigaki Island, the southern Ryukyus, Japan. The reported distribution of Parmarion has been limited to the Southeast Asia (Hainan Is., Cambodia, Sumatra, Java, Lumbok and Borneo) and the northernmost record was from Hainan Island, China. This specimen here reported represents the first record of the species from Japan, or some 1400 km northeastern range extension.
