To utilize effectively natural resoureces of the solar, geothermal and ocean energy, and to develop new energy systems of hydrogen and bioenergy, it is important to understand the heat and mass transfer phenomena in some elementary equipment constructing the system. The heat transfer in such equipment is generally a complicated phenomenon combined with conduction, convection and radiation. The phenomenon is, therefore, difficult to be predicted from a simple combination of individual type of heat transfer. Herein, some related subjects are described in detail, particularly with respect to the studies of the highly efficient use of radiative energy through porous media and the natural convection air cooling of electronic equipment.
