On December 16, 1997, many children watching the TV animated cartoon Pocket Monsters suffered seizures. As a result, a big shock called the "Pokemon Panic" spread across Japan. Although adults knew it was caused by TV stage effects, children did not believe that. In this paper, the writer tries to ascertain why these characters are still so attractive to children.
