動物園では,その業務における中心的な情報システムとして,日々の飼育活動や診療経過を記録・蓄積する飼育日誌システムが用いられている.このシステムには,飼育員や獣医師によって日々観察される出来事や飼育状況が記録され,そのデータを飼育管理や治療,繁殖などに活用している.著者らは,動物園の活動における情報通信技術の活用に向け,飼育日誌システムに,動物舎に設置したセンサーのデータをネットワーク経由で統合した "飼育管理システム" を構築し,京都市動物園で運用を開始している.本稿では,このシステムについて,その概要を述べた上で,このシステムを踏まえ,動物園での情報通信技術の活用手法について検討する.In a zoo, an "animal husbandry management system" is used for keeping records of animal individuals and incidents in husbandry activities. Veterinaries and keepers record incidents and medical treatment in this system every day. These recorded informations are used on breeding and treatment of animals. In this paper, we describe the zoo animal husbandry management system we developed and are operating in the Kyoto City Zoo. This system can store and display measurement data of sensors installed in a zoo, in addition to incident and medical records. Measurement data are gathered to the system through the wireless mesh network, which covers almost the whole area of Kyoto City Zoo. Based on this system, we also discuss about directions and problems for utilization of information and communication technologies in a zoo.
