本研究の目的は,日本における未就学児をもつ妻を対象に,IT を利用した夫との子育てに関するコミュニケーションや情報検索が,子どもの教育に関する意思決定にどのような影響をもたらしているかについて,韓国・米国との3 か国比較を通じて明らかにすることである.方法はインターネット調査であり,対象となった妻は,日本1194名,韓国1021名,アメリカ1001名である.パスモデルによる多母集団分析の結果,日本の妻は,夫との子育てに関するメール・SNS でのIT コミュニケーションが多いほど,子どもの教育に関する意思決定を夫もより多く行うが,この結果は韓国と米国でも同様であった.また子どもの教育の意思決定は,日本だけが約6 割以上の夫婦で主に妻が行い,韓国と米国では日本より夫も意思決定を行っている.そして日本と米国では,収入が多い妻は,IT を仕事と子育ての両立のための道具としていることも明らかになった.本研究から日本の妻は,意思決定を含め,夫が子育てにより参加するようにIT を活用していることが示唆された.This study examines how wives' use of IT for the purpose of communication with theirhusbands and information gathering purposes is related to couples' decision-making about childrearingacross three countries; Japan, South Korea and the United States. The data werecollected from web questionnaire in 2016- 2017. As a result of the path analysis, wives' use of IT,through smart-phones, cell-phones and personal computers, can influence couples' decision-makingabout their children's education in Japan, South Korea and the United States. Especially over 60%of Japanese wives with preschoolers mainly make decision about child-rearing and only 30% ofU.S. wives make decision about it. It is speculated that wives in Japan use IT to make theirhusbands participate in child-rearing.
