日本DECは米国DECの日本支社として、1968年に業務を開始し,1982年に日本法人化を行われた。電子メールについては、当初は海外との通信用にTELEXが使用されてきたが、1982年 VAX導入後は社内メール用に VAXmailを使用開始しました。1987年にVAXでの日本語サポート及び漢字端末の導入を行い、ALL?IN?1による社内のOAシステムが構築された。現在では、全従業員が使用できる環境が提供され、電子メールは社内のコミニケーションツールの一つとして、重要な位置を占めている。Digital Japan has been established as a liaison office in Japan in 1968 and incorporated in 1982. In the first stage, telex has been used as a means of communications with overseas. Then in 1980 after VAX system installed, VAXmail replaced it. In 1985, internal office automation system has been constructed by ALL-IN-1 with Japanese VAX os and Kanji charactor terminals. Nowadays, the electric mail system in ALL-IN-1 is available to use all employees, and has come to take a place in importance in one of communication tools.
