The purpose of this study was to examine the influence on the mental health of female workers in Japanese organizations in terms of two dimensions of gender harassment (i.e., omission and commission) toward women committed by men, as well as by other women. A questionnaire was administered to a sample of 200 Japanese working women. It revealed the following: (a) Female workers who desire to get promoted perceived discomfort in experiencing omission and commission. (b) The frequency of experiencing omission and perceiving discomfort of commission had negative effects on their mental health through OPD. (c) The frequency of experiencing omission had a direct negative impact on their mental health. (d) The perceived discomfort of commission had a direct positive impact on their mental health.

The purpose of the study was to create a Japanese version of Pryor (1987) "Likelihood to Sexual Harassment scale" (LSH scale) and to assess its reliability and determinants. The scale meas ures differences among individuals regarding their likelihood of carrying out sexual harassment. Japanese male undergraduate students (N=192) completed questionnaires on the LSH scale and sexual attitudes (i.e., sex role stereotyping, adversarial sexual beliefs, sexual conservatism, and acceptance of interpersonal violence). The results of principal component analysis and alpha coefficients showed the high reliability of the scale. Japanese male participants who had hostile attitudes to women produced high scores of the LSH scale. In addition, the LSH scores were higher in male participants who evaluated as trivial, rather than severe, behaviors that considered as sexual harassment in Japan and who anticipated sexual attraction to be women's sex role.

The purpose of the present study was to review the studies on the measurements of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), determinants of them, the similar and the related concepts of OCB. Several major definitions of OCB were indicated and compared with similar concept (i. e., prosocial organizational behavior, organizational spontaneity, extra-role behavior, contextual performance), and related concepts, i. e., whistle blowing, organizational retaliatory behavior. The author commented on the various OCB scales used in the previous studies, e. g., Smith et al.(1983) and Podsakoff, et al.(1990). Factors affected on OCB were examined: organizational justice (procedural justice, interactional justice, distributive justice), supervisor's leadership, job satisfaction, organizational support, organizational commitment, mood in workplace, personality factors, and demographic factors, and the reasons people performed OCB were examined. Finally, the future direction of studies on OCB was discussed.

We examined experiences of violence between couples and their attitudes regarding such violent experiences by using data of married men and women. We first examined the correlation between experiences of being abused and indulging in physical and psychological abuse from the perspective of violent interactions between couples. Results of chi-square analysis indicated a partial interaction; such that men and women indulge in similar types of acts that they have suffered. However, men indulge in acts of violence even without suffering similar acts. Then, attitudes regarding domestic violence (ADV) were considered a factor in determining violence and the correlation between violent attitudes and physical and psychological abusive behaviors were examined. Results of discriminant analysis indicated that abusive behaviors were positively related to several ADV items in men, whereas abusive behaviors were not related to ADV in women.
