In this paper, we evaluate via real experiments the performance of the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) in conjunction with its Partial Reliability extension (PR-SCTP) for streaming real-time H.264 video over an Free Space Optics link. We show that careful tuning of PR-SCTP partial reliability capabilities in terms of either number of retransmissions or retransmission time outs allow us to stream real-time H.264/AVC video with reliability comparable to that of TCP and with similar or lower delay characteristics.
