An ideal management & production informationAutomating the office gave the technological change on the nature of office jobs and the composition of the clerical work force. The computer is totally changing the way humans collect and manipulate data in the offices. In 1978,Japanese word processor developed and introduced into the office. A word dictionary and a grammatical analysis program in Japanese word processor translated kanas into kanji. Kana-kanji conversion is now the standard method used to input Japanese sentences. The method has also been used for portable or personal Japanese word processors, which have become extremely popular as home typewriter. Typewriting Japanese sentences becomes one of the most important clerical works. So this study aims to evaluate and estimate the works of inputting Japanese from the keyboard. At first, the keystroke data collection system for a personal computer has been developed. Then two different input methods, that is, romanized form and Japanese phonetic symbols form are analyzed in terms of keystroke data measured by our method.
