An ice storage is one of the ways of effective use of thermal energy. So, studies on a slush ice as thermal storage material have been done. We have also been studying on a suspension (slush ice) made of oil-water mixture with cooling and stirring. From our study result, it was found that a kind of additive having amino group (-NH_2) and silanol group (-SiOH) was essential to make the suspension with high IPF without adhesion of ice to a cooling wall. Moreover, formed ices in the suspension were dispersed and granular state and ices did not stick each other. In the present paper, we carried out experiments to clarify the characteristics of the suspension formation process. From the experimental results, it was found that the substance in the suspension was not ice but a compound consisting of ice and additive by a thermal analysis of fusion of the substance. Then, at very small depression of solidification point (about 7℃) all water of the mixture could be solidified by using the additive.

Water-silicone oil emulsion with a silane coupling agent was used as a phase change material. Using stainless steel vessels coated with PFA resin, experiments of forming ice with stirring were carried out under various conditions of the temperature of brine for cooling and the composition of emulsion. We investigated the correlation between cooling heat flux and ice adhesion to the cooling surface in the ice formation process. The following results were obtained, (a) Silicone oil has the effect of preventing the formed ice from adhering to the cooling surface, (b) Under a condition of the same concentration of the additive, the maximum cooling heat flux without adhesion in the case of water fraction of 80vol.% was larger than that in the case of 100%.

We have been studying on a suspension as a new thermal storage material. The suspension is made from water and some additive with cooling and stirring. When designing the ice storage system using this suspension, the thermal conductivity of the suspension is essential. The purpose of this study is to measure a thermal conductivity of the ice-water suspension with good fluidity. The thermal conductivity was measured by a hot wire method. In this study, the relationship between thermal conductivity and IPF was clarified, and thermal conductivity was expressed as a function of IPF. Moreover, the uncertainty of measurement of the thermal conductivity was examined.
