Samples of thirteen kinds of amino acid solution (1/100 mol) were heated for 120 min. at the pressure of 1kg/cm2, making analysis of amino acids by Beckmann/Spinco Amino Acid Analyzer 120-B every 10 min. to provide their heat decomposition graph. The work has yielded the following results.Glutamic acid has the highest heat decomposition rate of 68% in 120 min. The second highest decomposition rate, 8%, is obtained with tryptophan. Other amino acids, however, have the rates of under 3%.The experimental formulae which approximate the heat decomposition curves of respective amino acids wera pursued and differences in the modes of decomposition were discussed. The periods of half decay of both glutamic acid and tryptophan were obtained.
