This study was investigated to examin the effect of arousal on attraction and Two-stage theory (Foster et al., 1998). In this experiment, subjects were 38 male college students. Subjects of high arousal-distraction condition and high arousal-non distraction condition were made operationally by exercise for 2 min., and subjects of low arousaldistraction condition and low arousal-non distraction condition were made for 15 sec.. All subjects were asked to evaluate about the attraction of 3 female targets (high attraction, middle attraction, and low attraction) by portrait. At this point, subjects of distraction condition were controlled cognitive ability of adjusting attraction by remembering a seven-digit number when they make judgments. And subjects of non-distraction condition were motivated to evaluate target's attraction actually. The results indicated that high aroused subjects exhibit more polarized attraction ratings than low aroused subjects, and it became clear that arousal make target's attraction ratings polarized. But the results were not consistent with Two-stage theory because distraction didn't effect on attraction.
