Silkworm larvae which had been reared by a sericulturist in Suwa City, Nagano-Ken were attacked and killed by an unknown insect. This injurious insect to silkworm larva was identified as Sclerodermus nipponicus Yuasa belonging to Bethylidae of Hymenoptera. The bee is a parasite of the larva of the Anobiidd beetle. In this case, however, the host beetle was Stenygrinum quadrinotatum Bates (Cerambycidae), which bored into mulberry shoots stocked at an attic of silckwormrearing room. The damage was certainly brought by such a course as;the bees from the host beetles-gall or walk to silkworm bed-→prick the silkworms injecting a poisonous fluid-→soon or later the solkworms fall in death.
