研究ノートThis paper describes the process that we went through to produce a study abroad video, highlighting problems and challenges that we had to overcome. This project is especially interesting in that a part-time management staff member and a junior faculty member were given the responsibility to work independently with an outside production company to produce a promotion video. The production company did not have experience working in English. The staff member is a Japanese female; the faculty member is a native English speaking male. The production company staff were all Japanese males. Given these parameters the context was ripe for miscommunication-both interculturally, and inter-departmentally. The value of this paper is that it allows readers an opportunity to take a moment and think critically about collaborative work projects/processes. Too often in our busy schedules as we create new curriculums, as we try to incorporate new technologies, and/or attempt to develop new programs, we do not take the time to look at the process we go through.本稿では、海外留学用ビデオ制作において、著者らが直面した問題、および、解決策に焦点を当てながら、ビデオ制作のプロセスについてまとめる。このプロジェクトの興味深いところは、パートタイムの職員と、教員のなかでも教授や助教授でない専任講師の立場のスタッフが、外部の制作会社とともに、自らの判断でプロモーションビデオを制作する責任を与えられたところにある。この制作会社は、英語で仕事をした経験がなく、制作に関わったのは大阪女学院側は、マネージメントスタッフ:日本人でメンバー中唯一の女性、ティーチングスタッフ:英語を母国語とする男性、制作会社側スタッフは全員日本人の男性、というメンバーで構成されていた-この要素を見れば、いかに状況が、お互いの文化の違いや、部門間の違いから、大きなミスコミュニケーションを招くのに十分な理由を備えていたかが分かる。本稿は、プロジェクトにおける共同作業について、批判的な視点をもって評価する機会を読者に提供する、という点において意義がある。なぜなら、新しいカリキュラムを作ったり、最新技術を身につけたりすることにあまりに多忙であり、新しいプログラムを起動させることに翻弄されていて、自分達の仕事のプロセスを見直す時間がとれないことが、私達の日常にはあまりにも多いからである。
