I discuss the musical properties of Yoshinao NAKADA's 17 children's songs with lyrics by Hachiro SATO, through musical analysis focusing on the relationship between the poems and rhythm, melody, and harmony. As a result, I point out six characteristics of his composing style, from which I could derive three new features; compositions with repetitive lyrics, onomatopoeic words, and reverberation in the bridges. Finally, I discuss the significance of his works for children today from three points of view; cultivating emotions, encountering beautiful Japanese language, and the function of gate in the works of the art of music.
