Diana Coles's The Clever Princess is a feminist fantasy which sheds light on the stereotyped gender roles found in almost all fairy tales. The most important object of the story is to create a new type of heroine completely different from the traditional kind who, like Cinderella and Snow White, merely waits for a man/prince to help them escape from the circumstance they are in. In this paper I discuss gender in old fairy tales, comparing them with The Clever Princess, and clarify how the feminist story criticizes the stereotype of the heroine and creates a new role model. I also discuss its raison d'6tre and problems in addition.

本研究課題の主たる研究成果は以下の通りである。1.女性登場人物の男装を含む英米の児童文学作品の調査・分析を行い、重要と思われる男装の登場人物のデータベースを作成した。 2.男装に焦点を当てて日本の少女漫画を調査・分析し、重要な男装の登場人物のデータベース化を行った。 3.フェミニズム童話を始めとする、ジェンダーにとらわれない女性像を描いている作品についても研究を行った。 4.国際学会および国内学会において計5件の学会発表を行った。加えて、2014年6月にも学会発表を予定している。 5.男装に関する論文2件を発表した。
