Earias cupreoviridis Walker has been known as an important pest of the cottonculture damaging mainly cotton-bolls by larvae. The present paper deals with the external structure of the mature larva and pupa. The chaetotaxy of the Fracker's system (1915) was applied on this study. Head (Fig. 2) brown; epicranium and area of ocellar group blackish brown. Setal arrangement as follows; 12 on epicranium 2 on adfront, 2 on front, 4 on clypeus, 12 on labrum. Structures of antennae mandibles, maxillae and labium as shown in Figs. 4 6 and 7. Hypopharynx (Fig. 8) supported by paired superlinguae with numerous minute processes and two groups of sharp tooth-like processes. Thorax and abdomen covered with minute pale brown, velvet setae with setiferous processes on subdorsal lines; prothoracic dorsal plate blackish brown; subdorsal processes of meso-and metathorax second and eighth abdominal segments blackish brown, those of first, third, fourth sixth and seventh abdominal segments white and on other segments slightly brown. Thoracic and abdominal chaetotaxy as shown in Fig. 9,A-F. Thoracic legs 5-segmented. Prolegs pale brown, with 20-22 uniordinal crochets, caudal prolegs with 23-24 crochets. Pupa (Fig. 11) oval, reddish brown; head almost smooth; dorsal side of thorax and abdomen rugulous; sexual character shown on abdominal end : female with a mark of narrow genital openning between eighth and ninth abdominal segments and male with a pair of small oval processes on eighth abdominal segment.
