In the recent examination method of stereopsis, a target with random dots having a real depth, such as the Frisby test, has been developed. As an objective method of binocularity test, the binocular effect of VECP was examined comparatively on several kinds of real solid target. Visual stimulation was given by the binocular liquid crystal electric shutter which triggered an average computer to induce a steady state VECP.<br>Target with less uneven surface such as flat checkerboard pattern, white plaster bust, panel of the Frisby test and projected doll's slide on screen induced a binocular excitation of VECP up to &radic;2 times.<br>Target with rich uneven surface such as a French doll with tucked skirt and building of black and white wooden blocks induced a remarkable increase of binocular excitation up to &radic;4 times. Consequently, for the objective test of binocularity by VECP, building of wooden blocks was found to be the best stimulating target since the building could indicate an amount of disparity from the Vieth-M&uuml;ller circle.
