The aim of this study was to clarify the attack-defence performances of rugby sevens in 2010-2020 seasons, 4,074 matches. Firstly, averaged try scoring rate and try conceding rate of every teams were drawn in two-dimensions space. Hypothesis 1 was that the achievement values of the upper teams could be clarified. Receiver-Operator-Curve analysis was used to understand how attack-defence indicators correctly diagnose the world rankings. Secondly, the 22m entry attack-defence indicators were drawn in two-dimensional space. Clustering analysis of ranking teams was executed using try scoring rate, try conceding rate, 22m attack-defence indicators. Hypothesis 2 was that the clustering characteristics of upper teams can be clarified by these indexes. Thirdly, network analysis was executed to clarify what kind of characteristic in relationship among the ranking, team performance, and individual performance. The ROC analysis showed the specific achievement level of the top-ranking teams with high accuracy (hypothesis 1). Cluster analysis extracted 4 groups. The gradual attack defence standard values were obtained (hypothesis 2). Network analysis showed the relationship structure among the ranking, the team performance, and the individual performance with some interesting results concerned the dependence tendency changing on the ranking stage (hypothesis 3).

In modern optical communications, pulse amplitude modulation 4 (PAM4) is employed to achieve higher data rates than that achieved by conventional non-return-to-zero format. Meanwhile, there is an increasing interest to convert wired connections to wireless in data centers using high-speed millimeter-wave and terahertz (THz) links. Here, we introduced the PAM4 modulation for THz wireless communications using a resonant tunneling diode (RTD) receiver. Compared with a Schottky-barrier diode receiver, the RTD receiver has higher sensitivity, and a stronger nonlinearity at low input power when it is operated with an amplified detection scheme. We achieved 24-Gbaud (48-Gbit/s) transmission in the 300-GHz band with a quasi-real-time digital signal processing (DSP), which is the fastest PAM4 wireless communication without an offline DSP to the best of our knowledge.

Recently, we showed that a methanol extract of Ganoderma lucidum inhibits scratching, an itch-related response, induced by intradermal injections of some pruritogens in mice. The present study investigated whether G. lucidum extract would inhibit allergic itch. In mice sensitized with an extract of salivary gland of mosquito (ESGM), an intradermal injection of ESGM elicited scratching, which was suppressed by oral administration of G. lucidum extract (100 and 300 mg/kg). The scratching was inhibited by the H1 histamine–receptor antagonist azelastine, but not by the peripherally acting H1-antagonist terfenadine, at the oral dose of 30 mg/kg. In sensitized mice, ESGM increased the activity of cutaneous nerve, which was suppressed by G. lucidum extract (300 mg/kg). Although terfenadine (30 mg/kg) inhibited plasma extravasation induced by ESGM in the sensitized mice, G. lucidum extract (300 mg/kg) was without effect. These results suggest that G. lucidum extract relieves allergic itch through a peripheral action. The results support the idea that mast cells and H1 histamine receptors are not the primary sites of the antipruritic action of G. lucidum extract.
