A just recently discovered dualism (Le. an unambiguous and unique connection) between the two most basic kinds of structural principles, the lattice structure and the plate structure, enables a far more comprehensive and sophisticated use of spatial plate structures than today. Further it gives rise to the explanation of the behaviour of several complex biological structures such as the test of the sea urchin, which is so perfect, that it even might be an inspiration for architectural and structural designers
