This paper reports the following 23 psocopteran species collected through biological investigations of the Imperial Palace of Japan in 1998 and 1999; Trogiidae- Cerobasis guestfalica (Kolbe); Amphientomidae - Stimulopalpus japonicus Enderlein; Caeciliusidae - Paracaecilius japanus (Enderlein), Valenzuela badiostigma (Enderlein), V.oyamai (Enderlein), V. flavidus (Stephens)(new record from Japan), V. scriptus (Enderlein); Stenopsocidae - Graphopsocus cruciatus (Linnaeus), Stenopsocus aphidiformis Enderlein; Ectopsocidae - Ectopsocopsis cryptomeriae (Enderlein),E ctopsocus sp.,E. briggsi McLachlan; Peripsocidae Peripsocus phaeopterus (Stephens,1836) (new record from Japan),P. quercicola Enderlein,P. sp.; Pseudocaeciliidae Mepleres suzukii (Okamoto); Philotarsidae - Aaroniella sp.; Mesopsocidae - Idatenopsocus orientalis (Vishniakova),M esopsocus laticeps (Kolbe); Hemipsocidae - Hemipsocus chloroticus (Hagen); Psocidae - Amphigerontia jezoensis Okamoto,B laste sp.; Myopsocidae - Lichenomima muscosa (Enderlein). Psocopteran fauna of the Imperial Palace is composed of species commonly found in lowland areas of Japan. In contrast,it lacks some species very common in lowland areas of Japan,s uch as Matsumuraiella radiopicta Enderlein (Amphipsocidae), Heterocaecilius solocipennis (Enderlein) (Pseudocaeciliidae), and species of Psococerastis and Trichadenotecnum (Psocidae). Species of Liposcelidae and Lachesillidae probably inhabit buildings in the Imperial Palace but those areas were not investigated.
