The theory of detailed wave equation (DWE), which represents relativistic quantum dynamics of an extended system with external interaction for a specific value of Regge intercept, avoiding ghost states and leading to dual amplitude, is further developed in several respects. The original formulation (the σ-formalism) for the string model is transcribed into a few equivalent formalisms. In the λ-formalism the invariance of DWE against the "Hilbert transform" becomes manifest. Finite "gauge transformations", under which the theory is invariant, are explicitly obtained for the consideration of their structural meaning. The original string model is generalized to the hybrid model, where each element constituting the string is endowed with internal "Fermi oscillator variables", in the framework of DWE, which now fixes the Regge intercept at the value lower than the original one by 1/2 unit or its multiples. In particular the hybrid model with vector Fermi variables, which implies "double-string" consisting of Dirac-like elements, is treated, where our vector Fermi variables differ from those in similar models by other authors with respect to their reality and Lorentz properties and are free from the introduction of additional indefinite metric. Moreover our theory is invariant under space reflection.

Euler-Lagrange equations of a relativistic massive string are analysed from the stand-point of non-linear wave propagation theory. Complete exceptionality is shown to hold, while strict exceptionality (usual in non-linear physical theories) appears only for non-vanishing value of the masses at the ends, when time-like or light-like gauge specification is employed.

Theory of "geometric" string, recently employed as a model of hadrons, is represented in a form covariant under general transformation of parameters ("coordinates") by the aid of tensor analysis. It is shown that this approach is essentially simple and transparent and works to clarify subtle points in the relativistic kinematics and mechanics of the geometric string. The method is applied to the treatment of conformal invariance, "static solutions" and single-time formalism. Relativistic string with intrinsic rotational degrees is presented, also on the basis of the general-covariant approach. This new model allows a charge distribution along the string. Analogy of the "general-covariant" string theory to general relativity as well as its distinction therefrom is explained.

Assuming that the space-time consists of elementary domains proposed by Yukawa, we attempt to extend the stochastic quantization procedures introduced by Nelson in the non-relativistic case to the relativistic one. In our view, the conventional Minkowski structure of space-time is to reflect the macroscopic property, so that it may be derived from our stochastic formulation as its continuum limit. The relativistic wave equation is set up to describe the behavior of successive inter-elementary-domain transitions of an excitation. It is found that the equation is of the Fock-Nambu-Feynman type.

The fact implied by Bloch several years ago that in some approximate sense the behavior of an assembly of Fermi particles can be described by a quantized field of sound waves in the Fermi gas, where the sound field obeys Bose statistics, is proved in the one-dimensional case. This fact provides us with a new possibility of treating an assembly of Fermi particles in terms of the equivalent assembly of Bose particles, namely, the assembly of sound quanta. The field equation for the sound wave is found to be linear irrespective of the absence or presence of mutual interaction between particles, so that this method is a very useful means of dealing with many-Fermion problems. It is also applicable to the case where the interparticle force is not weak. In the case of force of too short a range this method fails.

We systematically study VEVs of a gauge scalar field Σ in a bulk U(1) vector multiplet and scalar fields in brane/bulk hypermultiplets charged under U(1)in the 5D S^1/Z_2 orbifold model with generic FI terms. A non-trivial VEV of Σ generates bulk mass terms for U(1) charged fields, and their zero modes have non-trivial profiles. In particular, in the SUSY- breaking case, bosonic and fermionic zero modes have Gaussian profiles. Such non-trivial profiles are useful to explain hierarchical couplings. A toy model for SUSY breaking is studied, and it yields sizable D-term contributions to scalar masses. Because the overall magnitude of D-term contributions is the same everywhere in the bulk and also on both branes, we have to take into account these contributions and other SUSY-breaking terms to obtain a realistic description. We also give profiles and mass eigenvalues of higher modes.

It has been shown three different views in relativistic thermodynamics can be derived from the basic formulation proposed by van Kampen and Israel. The way to decompose energy-momentum into work and heat is not uniquely determined; the different choices result in different views. Also the definition of three dimensional volume causes ambiguity of thermodynamical quantities. The present paper shows various theories are obtained depending on the choice of these two factors.

We calculate the relative abundance of the radioactive isotopes Iodine-131 and Cesium-137 produced by nuclear fission in reactors and compare it with data taken at the troubled Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant. The ratio of radioactivities of these two isotopes can be used to obtain information about when the nuclear reactions terminated.

In this article we introduce the Becchi-Rouet-Stora transformation for the gravitational field and the corresponding charge that plays an essential role in proving the unitarity of the S-matrix for the gravitational field.

Alpha-decay widths of SU_3, deformed oscillator and cluster model wave functions are calculated quantitatively for the ground band levels of ^<8>Be and the first K=0^<-> band levels of ^<20>ne. Tails of the reduced width amplitudes of these model wave functions are amended by two methods, of which one is to connect smoothly the inner original reduced width amplitude with the resonance tail given by the release energy of α particle, and the other is to apply the Green's-function method developed by Kawai and Yazaki for the calculation of the radial form factor for the stripping or pick up reactions. From comparisons of the calculated results with experiments it is concluded that the SU_3 model is insufficient to reproduce large α-decay widths. It is further shown that the deformed oscillator model is also considered to be inappropriate for the general explanation of the (rotational) levels with large cluster widths. From these consequences on SU_3 and deformed oscillator models and by the numerical confirmation that the cluster model wave functions can naturally reproduce the experiments consistently with the variational energy calculations, the importance of the molecular viewpoint in light nuclei is emphasized.
