仮想マシンの配置問題に関して、オペレーションズリサーチの分野で研究されてきたベクトルパッキング問題に対する古典および最近のアルゴリズムの観点と、メインフレームやデータセンタの効率運用、サーバ統合のために研究されてきたアプリケーションやワークロード、仮想マシン配置の観点から関連研究を概観する。これに基づき、我々がサーバ統合用に開発したアルゴリズムの位置づけや設計思想について述べる。

1989 年に英国で、IT サービスマネージメントのベストプラクティスである ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) が誕生し、2005 年 12 月に、その流れを汲んだ ISO/IEC 20000 が制定された。日本でも数十社の企業が ISO/IEC 20000 を取得し、また多くの企業が ITIL をベースとした IT サービスマネージメントを実践している。本研究では、ITIL で紹介されているサービスレベル管理とキャパシティ管理にスポットをあて、コンピュータの性能管理のプロセスにおける留意点を考察する。ITIL(Information Technology Infrastructure Library) that is the best practice of the IT service management was born in 1989 in UK, and ISO/IEC 20000 that successor was enacted in December, 2005. In Japan, the tens of companies have undertaken ISO/IEC 20000 and a lot of other are practicing the IT service management based on ITIL. In this study, I will focus on the methodology of service level management and the capacity management introduced with ITIL, and the note of the computer performance management in the process is considered.
