This paper explores the intersection of animal ethics with European and American feminism. Feminist theory and activism tried to liberate women and animals from oppression. The feminist care tradition in ethics developed as an alternative to the rights-based theory of justice. A caring approach is useful in animal ethics. Feminist caring ethics aims to have a compassionate insight directed toward compassionate action. This feminist theory has culture-contextual advantage. However, it is doubtful whether feminist theory involves universal and inclusive compassion toward enemies, wildlife, and destructive animals.

Compassion, sympathy, empathy, and pity are not mainstream themes in the history of philosophy, but have been taken up frequently by philosophers. Starting with the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle, Spinoza, Descartes, Hume, Adam Smith, Schopenhauer, and many others have discussed the concept of compassion. More recently, Jacques Derrida and Martha C. Nussbaum, among others, have contemplated it. In reviewing their patterns of thought, one can see that the shift in the concept of compassion is the transition of the answers to the questions "How do we feel compassion for other(s)?" and "Who is/are the other(s) who deserve compassion?” This study explores the development of "sympathetic imagination" in philosophy, how the subject of compassion has expanded, and where the source of compassion is found.

This paper is an introduction to investigation and interpretation (釈論) of 'Oeno Chisato-shu' (大江千里集). This work is an anthology of or waka (和歌=ancient Japanese poems) by Oeno himself. In the work, which was edited in accordance with a command of Japan's Emperor Uda in 894, and is usually called kudai-waka (句題和歌), each poem was given a one phrase poetic title in kanshi (漢詩=ancient Chinese poem) selected by Oeno. And so, Oeno's own poetry has been considered a mere literal translation of the Chinese. The authors of this paper think that such a way viewing this work shoud be reconsidered because the mutual relations between expressions in both waka and kanshi have various patterns. The central purpose of our investigation is to concretely explicate the actual condition of all these patterns. This paper makes clear the investigation method which attaches great importance to expression technique, reviews preceding studies and interpretates waka No. 72, the most famous in this anthology.

In this article, we introduce some ICT practical use examples that can apply to a subject of applied mathematics. At first, we introduce the use of liquid crystal pen tablet. This sponsors a handwriting function with a pen in slide show of tasteless PowerPoint. Next, the use of remarkable numerical formula processing software is introduced. We introduce "Maxima" of free software and perform suggestion as an assistance tool of a calculation exercise of a student in scenes such as a definite integral, Laplus conversion, and partial fraction development. In addition, a graphical technique by Excel and a voice synthesis language by "PureData" are introduced. This makes full use of a pronunciation function and an FFT operation function.
