In order to encourage the understanding of values and wide use of prototyping (PT), there are previous studies which indicate the classification of PT. While PT is essential to the development of products and solutions, novice designers can only select PT from a narrow understanding and recognition of it. Therefore, it is difficult for them to decide which kind of PT to create and they might select an ineffective one.In this paper, we divided the 74 implemented PT into groups according to the novice designer's depth of understanding of values that derived solutions have. PTs were implemented by novice designers at an example project, such as the Design Project (D-Pro) at a graduate school. Based on a review of submitted materials and interviews, implemented PTs were divided into three groups, namely "Exploratory PT", "Externalize PT", and "Needs Confirmatory PT". Through interviews with novice designers, we indicate that the proposed classification supports them to select an effective PT.In addition, by comparing the result of the performed PT when the classification is exhibited to the novice designers or not, we indicate that the ratio of PT in the earlier phase increases, and the average number of total PT slightly increases by exhibiting the classification.

This paper intends to analyze the characteristics of product development management that gained and maintained a competitive advantage in the Internet service industry from the perspective of design thinking. We conducted a case study of the QQ business of the Chinese company Tencent in order to derive a hypothesis. The original findings of the case study in this paper are as follows: Tencent built into the QQ a mechanism for visualizing and enhancing "Guanxi," a user characteristic unique to the Chinese market, in a virtual space through product development from the Human-Centered Perspective (HCP). The hypothesis derived from the case study is as follows: Behind Tencent's rapid growth in China's emerging Internet service market were the visualization and enhancement of "Guanxi" in the virtual space, which raised certain unique psychological switching cost.

The study explored the feelings experienced by female office workers with respect to color images for business make-up. The degree of color preference for business make-up was determined by evaluating significant differences. The results of this study were as follows. First, aesthetic measures with regards to color matching for business make-up were highly aesthetic and primarily warm in color tone with red and red-purple. Color harmony was based on the combination of the same and similar hues. Secondly, image vocabularies that referred to the color image of business make-up included the terms "natural", "friendly", "elegant", and "mature". Third, four dimension factors were identified on the basis of consumer lifestyle: meticulous planning and emphasis on convenience, reliance on well-known products, vulnerability to other people's behaviors, and brand-oriented. Ultimately, differences in color preferences were shown relative to different lifestyle clusters.

As part of Chiba University's Post Urban Living Innovation program, the present research focuses on a Design Against Crime process with the goal of improving the levels of fear of crime and the general crime situation of a local Mexican urban community. As part of a crime prevention intervention, the prototype of a community-based security system is conceptualized, tested, and evaluated by both community members and criminal offenders in order to provide insight for the further development and future long-term implementation of the proposed system and its various elements.
