The age composition of 362 red foxes, Vulpes vulpes shrencki KISHIDA, which were collected in eastern Hokkaido during the autumn and winter of 1970-1973,was determined by examination of the annual layers of canine tooth cementum and the fusion of the cranial sutures. The average percentage of individuals younger than 1 year old was 67% during the three-year study period. Some of the red foxes survived longcr in eastern Hokkaido than in other districts. The survivorship curve was estimated for the population surveyed.
