「デジタルアーカイブ」 が一定ていど普及してきた一方で,本来のアーカイブ(ズ)は,まだひろく理解されたとはいいがたい.本来のアーカイブ(ズ)の中心となる概念は,「永久保存」にある.しかし,デジタルアーカイブを標榜する存在のなかに「永久保存」性は,ほとんど見出すことはできない.小稿では,デジタルアーカイブのなかに永久保存の概念を見出すことは,そもそも可能かどうか,本来のアーカイブ(ズ)のもつ基本事項を検討していくことで,議論を進めていく.それにより,つぎの結論が暫定的に導かれると予想する: 現前するデジタルアーカイブに永久保存を期待することはできないものの,デジタルアーカイブのもととなるアーカイブズの実体の永久保存 (または長期保存) を担保する配慮を組み込むことが,デジタルアーカイブへの永久保存の概念の導入となりえる.In Japan, "Digital Archive" has already spread, but it has been difficult to understand "original" archives universally as yet. The core of the concept of "original" archives lies in "permanent retention" of archival holdings. The elements of "permanent retention" can hardly be found in those "Digital Archive". This paper examines whether or not the concept of "permanent retention" can be found in "Digital Archive" by reviewing basic matters of "original" archives. As a result, it is expected that the following conclusion should be drawn provisionally: "Digital Archive" does not have the concept of "permanent retention", but it is possible to subsume "Digital Archive" under the activities of "original" archives. Thus, "Digital Archive" will be able to implement the concept of "permanent retention".
