Buccinum (Thysanobuccinum) pilosum Golikov & Gulbin, 1977 was collected from off Senhoushi on Rishiri Island (120m deep) and off Todo Island (152m deep), both in northern Hokkaido, Japan. These are first records of the subgenus from Japanese waters. Each specimen was collected live by a gill-net set to catch walleye pollock. The species is here compared with another in the same subgenus, B. (Th.) tunicatum Golikov & Gulbin, 1977.
