本論文は、北京という都市を対象として古地図と古写真を統合した Historical GIS を構築する試みを紹介する。約 250 年前の古地図『乾隆京城全図』と約 100 年前の古写真を「空間画像史料」として統合的に扱うためには、古写真の場所を同定する問題が本質的に重要である。そこで本論文では古地図等の複数の情報源を利用しながら古写真をマッピングする問題に取り組み、簡単な事例から困難な事例までに適用可能な一連のマッピング方法を提案する。また Historical GIS を実現するために Google Earth というツールを活用することの利点を示し、古写真を地理的な文脈で閲覧し解釈できるような環境を実現することが北京の都市景観の再現には必要であることを論じる。This paper introduces the construction of a historical GIS on the city of Beijing by integrating old maps and old photographs. We use the old map, Complete Map of Peking, Qianlong Period, made about 250 years ago, and old photographs, taken about 100 years ago, and defined them as "spatial visual sources." We claim that the mapping of old photographs is an essential step toward dealing with old maps and old photographs as spatial visual sources in an integrated manner. We therefore focus on the problem of mapping old photographs using information and hints from various sources, and propose a set of mapping methods that are applicable from simple cases to difficult ones. We also show that Google Earth is a useful tool for realizing a historical GIS, and discuss that, for reconstructing the historical space of Beijing, we need to realize an environment in which old photographs can be browsed and interpreted under geographical context.
