『君の名は。』ヒットの要因はいろいろと分析されているが、この作品が日本的悲恋物の系譜に属する作品であったことが大きいと考えられる。日本人は近松浄瑠璃の昔から、共同体の制度や倫理に阻まれて、死に行く恋人たちの物語を好んで消費してきたが、こうした障害は社会の発展・民主化とともに、1960 年代は〈難病〉へと姿を変え、80 年以降、新しい要素として〈時間〉が現れた(『時をかける少女』)。『君の名は。』も、「時の隔たり」が恋人達を引き裂いているという点において、この伝統に連なる作品だと言える。 また、彼らの恋愛成就とヒロインの住む町の運命が一体となっていることは(=セカイ系)、それまで恋人達の敵であった共同体が、彼らの恋愛成就を助ける側となったことを意味し、日本的悲恋が新しい物語形態(=共同体との和解)を採用するに至ったことを示している。『君の名は。』のラストは、「歴史の流れ不変の原則」に基づいた「忘却のルール」が破られる展開となっており、これは旧来の共同体が力をもてなくなった現代の日本社会において、00 年代以降の大衆の嗜好に合致するものとなっている。 このように、『君の名は。』は日本的悲恋の伝統を受け継ぐ形で、「時間」という障害を採用しながらも、そのルールを変える新しい結末を用意したことが、全世代的なヒットに繋がったと考えられる。The animated movie "Your name" by Makoto SHINKAI was the biggest hit of the year 2016 ; it took about 24300 million yen at the box office. What made "Your name" such a smash hit ? The first reason is that it follows the dramaturgy of the tragic Japanese love story, although tragic love stories have gradually changed over time. In Japanese cinema lovers used to be separated by social obstacles, morals and ethics, but in the 1960s this changed. In movies such as "The Heart of Hiroshima" by Koreyoshi Kurahara 1966 etc. serious disease became the main reason that lovers could not be together. Then in the 1980s in "The Girl who leapt through Time" by Nobuhiko OHBAYASHI (1983) it changed again and time gap caused lovers to give up their love. The second reason is that "Your name" has made a reconciliation with the community, because the destiny of the heroine's town is connected deeply with the achievement of their love. The former point could make middle aged and older people go to the theater and the latter attracts all generations who recently tend to tolerate the transgression of the norms of the community and the society. That is the why "Your name" is a big hit.
