The variations of penetration and viscosity of binders with the addition of polymer were studied and following results were obtained:<br>1. The variations of penetration and viscosity of binders depend on the viscosity difference between the polymer and maltene.<br>2. Upon mixing polymer in 2-6% with maltenes, the following equation was obtained; logη<sub>G</sub>/η={1.00-29/(ΔS.P.×Mwm)<sup>0.43</sup>(1.00-C<sub>m</sub>)}logη<sub>G</sub>/η<sub>m</sub> where the term 29/(Δ<i>S.P.×Mwm</i>)<sup>0.43</sup> is the swelling volume of polymer in maltenes.
