学習指導要領が改訂されるごとに小学校理科の教育内容も変化してきた。1980年以降,理科の授業時数が減らされるとともに,内容の精選により学習事項も削減されてきた。ところで,2008年に告示された学習指導要領ではこれに歯止めがかかり,一転して理科の教育内容は増加した。その一方で,取り上げられている事項や内容とその妥当性について戸惑いの声もきかれる。ここでは,物質・エネルギー領域の物理分野について,現行の小学校学習指導要領や理科教科書と,内容の精選が始まる以前の1958年に告示された学習指導要領や教科書とを比較した。これにより,今回の改訂で導入された教育内容の問題点について検討するとともに,小学校理科の教育内容の在り方を考察する。Contents of the elementary school science have been changing as the course of study or the national curriculum of Japan is revised. Since 1980, contents of elementary school science were carefully selected and reduced while cutting the time of school science classes. Meanwhile, in the 2008 revision of the course of study in Japan, it stopped to cut the time for school science classes, and it turned to increase and the contents of elementary school science are also increased. On the other hand, voices of confusion about the content and validity of newly introduced units in elementary school science are addressed. Here, we compare the elementary school science textbooks and the current school curriculum guidelines, between 1958 and 2008, since the past course of study of fifty years ago are thought very much appreciate for the science education. In this way, for the units of enegy and matter, we shed new light on the past textbooks and the course of study of 50 years ago and get hints how to improve the current curriculum and teaching method.
