This paper is intended to discuss the features of novel in the Tang dynasty, which were translated by Kawabata Yasunari in 1926. Previous research focused on the translations by Kawabata is rather limited, so will be explored in this paper. Broadly there are three direct approaches: analysis by narration, conversation, and poetry. Finally there will be farther analysis, revealing the background of the translations by Kawabata Yasunari.
