This paper aims to make clear the concept "universal"of Architecture in the Italian renaissance, through the architect/theorist Vincenzo Scamozzi in the 16th century Italy. In the 16th century, Italy pushed forward the universalization of the concepts that integrate each art. Yet, Scamozzi constituted a logic that puts Architecture in a high position and puts Painting/Sculpture in its subordinate position. In this logic, the concept that has an important role is "scienza". Architecture becomes a more excellent art than Painting/Sculpture, on the condition that it secures the inevitable relationship with the scienza. Scamozzi's architectural book "Idea della architettura universale" is the concept that was composed by the scienza. This means that "invenzione", "disegno", which have a deep relation with scienza, compose the concept "architettura universale", as scienza dose.

本研究はイタリア・ルネサンス最後の建築家であるヴィンチェンツォ・スカモッツィ(1548-1616)の主著『普遍的建築のイデア』(1615)に収められている建築六原理の内容と相関を明らかにしている。

平成19年度は、平成17年度から行ってきたイタリア現地での建物の実測、建物に関連する資料の収集について、データ整理と資料の読解を実施した。そもそも本研究は、スカモッツィの建築作品がルネサンス後期、マニエリスム期、バロック前期の狭間に計画されたものであることから、その作品に時代の思想や様式の変化を見出すことを目的として開始された。現在のところ、スカモッツィの作品は、前期、中期、後期に分類でき、はっきりと表面化するものではないが、確かに時代の狭間に計画された、すなわち混沌とした時代の痕跡が建築様式に表れていることを見出している。今後の研究としては、この基本研究を継続していき、建築様式の系統化、そしてそれを裏付ける思想の中身を明らかにしていきたいと考えている。
