The wearing tests for 15 different samples were performed with 10 female subjects to investigate the factors of general comfort sensation of panty hose. The sensory evaluation in wearing condition and the mechanical properties of the materials were measured and analyzed. Further-more, the clothing pressure of the panty hose were measured by a modified air bag system. The results were obtained as follows. 1) The general comfort sensation of panty hose correlated with the sensation of movability(r=0.702), smoothness(r=0.612) and softness(r=0.474). 2) The softness, movability and smoothness sensation of the panty hose related respectively to the LC value of compression, the value of tensile force and the MMD value of the mechanical properties of the materials. 3) The general comfort sensation did not correlate with the sense of compression. It was not better when the sense of compression was high but also when it was low. The comfortable hose was at a proper pressure level on the leg. 4) The level of comfortable pressure of panty hose was approximately 5, 7 and 10 gf/cm^2 on the front thigh, the back lower leg and the ankle, respectively. Reliability of these figures were coincident with that by the calculated pressure values.

The aim of this study is to provide all people, from small children to aged persons, with a computational environment for everyday language communication. In order to achieve this, we propose a framework for a language-based operating system. In this paper, we explain our approach to dealing with the meaning of language, the architecture of the language operating system and its components. In particular, we describe the notion of language protocol and its resource representation (i.e., semiotic base), compared to the other protocols and their resource representations. We argue that by processing meaning of language rather than processing information, we attempt to provide a more human-like computer system and an intelligent computational environment to all people.

In order to clarify the effects of mean pressure on the compressive sensation of women's underwear, subject values obtained from a wearing test were analyzed with mean clothing pressure on a dummy. Total compressive sensation and comfort of long or half sleeve underwear were respectively related to the compression on the back, chest, abdomen, upper arm and forearm. In addition, they were related to the contact area and the mean pressure on the dummy. The values of feeling compression on the chest, back and upper arm of the long or half sleeve underwear were approximate, and were about 0.1 kPa. These values of mean clothing pressure were 0.046 kPa on the long sleeve type of women's underwear and 0.025 kPa on the short sleeve type. Furthermore, the significant equations for mean clothing pressure of nuderwear were obtained by the multiple regression method using the pressure of the chest and forearm.
