学校等での集合学習において、生徒一人ひとりの学習のペースやレベル、好み等の特質に合わせたマルチメディア学習環境を実現するために、「情報ランドセル」というコンセプトを提案する。今回、学習教材として小学生向けの英語教材を用意し、DVD-RAMによる「情報ランドセル」を実装して、岐阜市の小学4年生約120名を対象に実証実験を行ない、各生徒にとってよりふさわしい学習教材をより効率的に「情報ランドセル」上に配信する仕組を検証した。その結果、学習教材の必要度の差を利用して、バックグラウンドプロセスで配信する仕組を取り入れることで、生徒の学習を休止する影響をできるだけ小さくしながら、効率的に学習教材を配信できることが実証できた。The authors propose a concept of "Information Satchel", which provides a personalized learning environment for school children. Each "Information Satchel" acts as a personal container for learning materials adaptively selected for each child based on the status of learning such as progress, maturity, and interests. We implemented an experimental "Information Satchel" system using DVD-RAM, which selects appropriate learning materials and efficiently delivers them to each child. From the result of our system architecture evaluation, we confirmed, by downloading lea rning materials in a background process based on the necessity level of learning materials, the total cost of the delivery of learning materials could be reduced.
