This study aims at finding problems of facility planning for aged society, using questionnaire survey with an inter-generational comparison of evaluation on development of a residential area under the land readjustment enterprise project. Under a rapid increase in population, this area has enough commercial facilities to satisfy the residents, but it lacks in public ones. The aged residents' usage rate of facilities in the residential area is generally higher than that of the other residents'. And the aged go to those facilities on foot more often. Therefore, the result shows the importance of further improvement on facilities within the residents' walking distance, in order to provide residents easy access to stores, clinic and other public places that are essential for their daily life.

In order to obtain useful data for computer simulations of crowd flow in stations, we conducted surveys of upward crowds on stairs in real stations. We obtain detailed time series data of numbers, crowd flow coefficients, and walking speeds of people on stairs and confirm following 4 points quantitatively. 1. Crowd flow on stairs change from “unstable state” to “stable state” and “decreasing state”. 2. On narrow stairs, “unstable state” quickly disappears, and moves to “stable state”. 3. Crowd flow coefficients reach its peak and keep a stable value. 4. Walking speeds are almost constant during “stable state”.

In this research, actual data of shopping behavior were collected through questionnaire survey at Seishin, Suma, Senboku and Sayama New Town to clarify the adaptability of the competing destinations model proposed to improve the Huf model which has been used for forecasting shopping behavior, and for analyzing characteristics of this model at ordinary built-up areas to compare the both areas. As a result, it is clarified that the adaptability of competing destinations model to shopping behavior is better than that of Huff model and that the grocery store in New Town are not so attractive as those in ordinary built-up areas for their scales.

This paper aims to clarify the actual state and the spatial characteristics of street performances in Osaka. Some results show as follows. 1. Street performances can be classified under four main contents: play, creation, feat, and dance. 2. A flow of people, the closing time of shops, the brightness, and the distance between other performances have relation to the distribution .of street performances. 3. The shapes of those spaces can be classified into 4 groups: the linear street, the street composed of a variety of elements, the small-scale space on which people can pause, and the monotonous open space. And the spatial preference varies greatly depending on the type of performance.

The Aim of this study is to develop a method of predicting the spatial distribution of leisure facilities in urban areas to realize their desirable location planning. In this study, sports facilities in Osaka City are selected for survey. The actual conditions of spatial distribution of various sports facilities are analyzed by employing the theory of quantification 2. A model is devised which predict the number of facilities. Finally the adaptability of the model is reviewed in the case of sports facilities in Osaka City.

In Seishin Minami New Town, community facilities have been introduced into the residential areas through three methods; "planed invitation", "leading" and "natural development". The aim of this paper is to inspect the introduction plan by investigating the actual condition of the location of the facilities and residents' opinions. The results of this study are as follows : 1) Compared with Senri New Town and Semboku New Town, Seishin Minami New Town has more community facilities in the residential areas; which proves the effect of the introducing methods. 2) Many of the residents who hope to live in more lively town point out that the facilities also have some undesirable influence upon their daily life.

This study aims to grasp the present conditions of deterioration and the use of community centers in Senri New Town, and to clarify the users' needs for facility improvement. The results of this survey are as follows. 1) The majority of users are the aged people or female. They come to community centers on foot. 2) The degree of satisfaction mainly depends on barrier-free level. 3) The accessibility of community centers depends on transportation environment. 4) Unifying community center, vacant stores and vacant classrooms in their management may lead to revitalization of community facilities for the aged society.

Interviews were given to the visitors and the managing staffs of Machikado-hiroba which utilize a vacant shop in the neighborhood center. The findings are as follows. 1) More than half of the visitors are over 65 years old. The majority of visitors live within 400m from Machikado-hiroba and they come mainly on foot. 2) Machikado-hiroba plays an important role as a new communication place for the visitors, especially for the aged. 3) They use the neighborhood center more frequently than before the opening of Machikado-hiroba. 4) It is necessary to accept the need of visitors and to increase the number of younger visitors.
