The applications of Artificial Intelligence ie AI show diversity in any fields. On the other hand, research of the predicting heat transfer regardless of single-phase or two-phase flow is still untouched. Therefore, we have confirmed usefulness using AI’s deep learning function on horizontal flow boiling heat transfer in flowing mini-channel that is actively researched. The effect of the surface tension in the mini-channel is large compared with conventional large tubes, and then the heat transfer mechanism is very complicated. For this reason, the numerical correlations of many existing researchers the prediction result is not good. However, the mechanistic correlation based on the visualization experiment, which the authors' research group published several years ago has very high precision. Therefore, in this research paper, we confirmed the effectiveness of using deep learning for predicting of the boiling heat transfer in mini-channel while comparing our correlation.

Experiments were carried out to explore the mechanisms of bubble lift-off from a vertical heated surface in subcooled pool boiling. The experiments were conducted at atmospheric pressure and distilled water was used as the test fluid. A high speed camera was used for observation of bubble behavior. The main experimental parameters were the static contact angle of the heated surface, the liquid subcooling, and the wall heat flux. The time variation of bubble size was measured through image analysis. The growth force acting on the bubble was calculated using the measured time-evolution of the bubble size. The bubble growing on the vertical heated surface started to be extended in the horizontal direction when the sign of the growth force turned from negative to positive. It was hence considered that the growth force is one of the main causes of the bubble lift-off from a vertical heated surface. Furthermore, a correlation was developed for the bubble lift-off diameter considering the distribution of heat transfer rate around the bubble.

In the envisioned high-power density core plant, the degradation of stability is concerned that is attributed to the shortening of rod heat conduction time constant upon the dense fuel grid and the increment of pressure drop caused by the wall friction. To confirm the influence of such degradation on the fuel soundness, the bundle geometry critical power test was held under flow-power oscillation condition which envisages the unstable phenomenon occurring under in the flow transient event. This paper describes the analysis results of the cited test with sub-channel code NASCA, and the discussion of the mechanism of boiling transition under flow-power oscillating condition.
