The Japanese writer Haruki Murakami's works are widely translated by over 35 countries in the world nowadays. This study is focused on the comparison of Chinese translations between the Taiwanese (traditional Chinese) and Chinese (simplified Chinese) translation. "Kafka on the Shore" is the main text in this study. The translation of katakana is the most important assignment. Author tries to investigate the foreign readers' understanding and reception through the different translations. Meanwhile, exploring the difference and mistranslation of the two translation works is also one of the purposes in this study.
