Boron isotope ratios were analyzed in seven domestic analytical labs for boric acid solutions with various compositions of boron isotope abundances, using an Inductively Coupled Plasma–Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer (ICP-QMS). Five sample solutions with different isotope abundances of 10B were prepared in the range of 10 to 20% by mixing two boric acid solutions containing natural B and enriched 11B, respectively. Then, the 10B isotope abundances of each sample were certified by analyzing with thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TI-MS) according to ASTM-C791-04. Results obtained from each lab have indicated good coincidences with TI-MS results. Also, the relative standard deviations of results with ICP-QMS of seven analytical labs were 0.11 to 0.81%. The measurement precision for ICP-QMS would be sufficient in terms of practical use, while taking into consideration a valid requirement required for verifying a depletion of the 10B isotope abundance in the PWR coolant, while this is greater than a nominal analytical error (relative value : 0.22%) for TI-MS shown in ASTM-C791-04.

[Author abstract]Nuclear dimension in barley stripe mosaic virus (BSMV)-infected barley leaves was measured and the presence of inclusion bodies was tested using light microscope. When the 1st leaves of susceptible barley varieties were mechanically inoculated and the mosaic symptom appeared on the 2nd or 3rd leaves, the nuclear dimension in the 1st leaves (no symptom) was not altered from that of noninoculated leaves. However, the nuclear dimension in the 2nd or 3rd leaves whose mosaic symptom was evident, was larger than that in the respective leaves of noninoculated plants. Increases in the length of nuclei by infection were much more than those in the width of nuclei We found granular and crystalline inclusion bodies in the infected barley leaves by staining with pyronin-methyl green (P-MG) or by "Luxol" brilliant green BL (LBL) and calcomine orange 2RS (CO) and by observing under light microscope. Granular inclusions were stained olive green by LBL-CO stain. Crystalline inclusions were most evidently found in the cells treated with heat (60℃, 5 min.) and with half day starving. Granular inclusions were found simultaneously with the symptom appearance and the number increased later on in the susceptible varieties. On the other hand, in the resistant varieties, granular inclusions appeared before the symptom appearance and afterwards increases in the number stopped. These bodies were found in the 1st (no symptom) and the 2nd (mosaic symptom) leaves. The relation between the nuclei abnormalities and the production of inclusion bodies is discussed.[摘要]1. オオムギ斑葉モザイク病感染オオムギの葉の表皮細胞内の核の面積を測定した。病徴の現れない接種または感染葉では、核の面積は健全葉のそれと変らなかった。モザイクの出現した葉では核の面積は健全葉より約20%大きくなった。長径の増加は短径の増加より大きく、感染によって核は膨大して細長くなったといえる。2. 感染葉内に顆粒状封入体が認められた。それは核に近接して現われ、病徴の出現しない接種葉内にも存在した。また抵抗性品種では病徴の出現前から認められた。3. 60℃温湯5分処理と半日老化処理を併用して、感染葉内に結晶状封入体が現われた。4. 顆粒状封入体の出現と核の変形の関係について考察した。
