【概要】わが国のスーパーマーケットが何時から出現したかということはいろいろ議論のあるところであるが, 日本のスーパーマーケットの端緒は,丸和フードセンターである。 丸和フードセンターは, 主婦の店運動というボランタリー・チェーン運動を起こすのである。 主婦の店運動は反生協対策としての中小小売商の対抗運動である。 中小小売商運動は, 生協問題を解決していくが, 自ら生み出したスーパーマーケットに影響を受けるという自己矛盾に陥るのである。 このような中小小売商運動のパラドックスが日本のスーパーマーケットを生み出したのである。 【Abstract】 There are many opinions about the first opening of supermarket in Japan. It is commonly accepted that the first supermarket in Japan is Maruwa Food center in March 1956. Maruwa Food center started voluntary chain (retailer co-operatives), that is, Shufunomise (Housewife Shop) movement for working together to gain mutual benefits. Shufunomise movement (food chain) was a countermeasure against consumer cooperatives for the protection and benefit of small-and-medium-sized merchants. Small-and-medium-sized merchants settled some problems of opposition movement against consumer cooperatives, but confronted with another problems. Those problems were large store problems, that is, supermarket problems. Supermarket hat a big impact on sales of the small-and medium sized merchants. Those merchants were hurt by supermarket, began to do Anti-large store movements.
