本研究は,幼稚園・保育園の保護者(父親は少数のため分析から除外された)を対象に子育ての方針や保育環境のあり方についてジェンダーの観点からその意識を探るための調査を行い,今後のジェンダー・フリー保育の指針を得ようとするものである。母親たちは,全体として脱伝統的な女性像・男性像をイメージしており,ジェンダーにとらわれない子育ての方針をもっている。また,身体的な差異に配慮しつつも,幼稚園や保育所の環境はできるだけ男女の区別がない方がよいという意見をもっている。一方,母親がとらえた保育環境には一部ジェンダー・バイアスが存在し,とくに,習慣化・制度化された保育の営みについては,実態が強く認識されているにもかかわらず,一部許容的な態度が示されている。また,母親のジェンダー(・フリー)についての関心は低く,男女共同参画社会における幼稚園・保育園への期待は大きくない。今後,保育者・保護者の一体となったジェンダー(・フリー)についての学習や取り組みが必要である。

This study aims to clarify to what extent those directly concerned with the education at child-care facilities are aware of the state of affairs at their respective place of work with a view to helping improve for nursery schools and kindergartens to implement some necessary measures from the gender viewpoint. An investigation covering 38 nursery schools and 34 kindergartens shows that the gender distinction as to equipment and other considerations was generally more evident in kindergartens than in nursery schools. A questionnaire to the staff of five day-care centers helped clarify further the actual conditions of gender considerations as well as the staff members' gender viewpoint. Generally, it was learned that the gender division as well as its extent was left to the management' decision. Of 47 respondents, most expressed their views against the gender division. However, those who had learned about gender issues believed that there was a need of attending to the issue. In fact, there were some reported cases of having changed the status quo by talking among the staff members. It is to be noted that there exists a difference of view among them as far as gender distinction is concerned; the views are split even among those working at the same place. So much so that there is a need for those directly concerned with the child education to get together to improve the subject matter.
