On July 11th, 1991, from the summit of Mt. Mauna Kea, NHK, using three HDTV cameras, successfully filmed one of the longest total solar eclipses of this century. This was the first attempt in the world to film a total solar eclipse using HDTV cameras. This of course involved difficulties in preparing the equipment and materials and in filming the object.
