The present article reviews how recent developments of social cognitive study contribute the understanding and theorizing of stereotyping. It was examined how-social cognitive researchers have been challenging the three intriguing issues; (1) How is erroneous stereotype formed? (2) Why is stereotype hard to change? (3) Is it possible to control influences of stereotype? It was inferred that stereotype is in large part derived from the intrinsic tendency of human cognitive mechanisms. However, it was suggested that self-related affect might play an important role in regulating stereotypic responses.
