In this paper I have described about the auxiliary 'つ(tsu)' 'ぬ(nu)' that was used from ancient times until the Kamakura Period, and the difference from the similar expressions 'たり(tari)'. The modern word '~てしまう(~teshimau)' implies the ancient auxiliary 'つ(tsu)' and 'ぬ(nu)'. I tried to make clear the characteristics of Japanese which has the originarity idea for the objective expression and the subjective one. That's means Modality.
