This paper mainly focuses on a grammatical problem in Rev. 1 : 1–3, and considers the form of the revelation which John has at the beginning of his letter. The problem is that ἀποστέλλω lacks the object noun(s), and this ellipsis makes obscure ‘who (or what) is to be sent?’ In most Japanese translations, including Shinkyoudouyaku (Japan Bible Society, 1987), takes adverbial phrase διά τοῡ ἀγγέλου αὐτοῡ (by his angel) as the object and paraphrases it such as ‘He sent his angel.’ Even if this paraphrase may not be impossible, it needs some explanation how the adverbial phrase can be replaced by the object noun(s) in this context.
