In this paper is, a method for describing the practical knowledge possessed by electrical installation engineers as explicit knowledge was discussed. The author, who has 45 years of practical experience as an electrical installation engineer, selected himself as the subject of analysis and described himself using a qualitative research method ”auto-ethnography.” The author extracted the practical knowledge that he had acquired through practical work and self-learning, using the ”repertoire” that was advocated as the lifelong learning theory ”reflection practice” for professionals as an index. As a result, the author was able to systematize practical knowledge as a ”repertoire” and at the same time to present a visualization method using ”frame analysis” of practical knowledge.

We develop a power supply that can repeatedly charge and discharge for a renewable energy by using the electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) and a photovoltaic module. We also fabricate the EDLC (charcoal EDLC) for the power supply, which is made of a charcoal and a water-based electrolyte. The charcoal EDLC has a high-safety performance due to the structure of incombustibility and the resistance to the invasion of the water. We fabricate an outdoor lighting system by using the charcoal EDLC and investigate the problems for the long-term operation. The outdoor light system is constructed with the charcoal EDLC (60 Wh), the photovoltaic module (60 W), the LED light device (6 W) and our original control circuit. The results of demonstration experiments show that the developed outdoor light system operates as a power supply for a LED light device in the nighttime in a high efficiency. It is confirmed that the system operates for a long time, but the results also show that there are problems such as incomplete charcoal EDLC sealing and electric resistance rise due to electric terminal corrosion from the test results for 2 years and 4 months after installation.

In this paper, a novel optimization tool is developed for a customer including new devices which are photovoltaic power generation (PV) and storage battery (BT). A treatment of thermal constraints of BT is introduced in the formulation for energy management system (EMS). Especially, thermal constraints are important to achieve the stable operation of demand-side energy system. The authors carry out the operation planning simulation by using nonlinear programming method. In latter section, a real-time simulation tool for the EMS is introduced by using MATLAB/Simulink SimPowerSystems.
