“Yanase Suiro” waterway runs through the old town in Nabari City, Mie Prefecture. The total length of it was 15 km in the old cadastral map in 1889. We conducted a field survey and confirmed that “Yanase Suiro” was left 9 km. The 2 km waterway is an underdrain, but the 7 km waterway could be divided into patterns along the road, in the fields, between houses, on the courtyards, and inside the house. We believe that the variety of waterways in the old town of Nabari city can be useful for future town development.

In this study, we analyzed the vegetation changes in the semi-arid regions of Tanzania in Africa using a normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and a normalized difference water index (NDWI) calculated from Terra/MODIS satellite data. NDVI and NDWI are the most widely used vegetation index. They have a relatively higher value in the wet season between November and April and represent the change and spread of land cover (vegetation coverage). From 2009 onwards, during drought conditions, the NDVI and NDWI time series have shown a gradual decrease.

The swimming motion of Tuna type fishes has excellent ability for its speed and efficiency. And some studies have been reported about the most efficient swimming motion by using numerical analysis on 2-joint bending mechanism model. And several fish type robots are developed based on these studies. But almost all robots have spring held caudal fin, so they cannot confirm theoretical result by experimental way. Therefore, we developed a fish type robot which has caudal fin angle actuating mechanism and tail oscillating mechanism. We made some experiments about the relationship between the swimming motion scheme and the swimming speed.

We are working on the construction of meteor radio observation system that has the potential to help in estimating ionospheric conductivity. Prior to the future high density of the meteor radio observation network, we aim to reduce the price and size of the system. We confirmed that the conventional observation system by using a Windows PC and a general-purpose wide band receiver can be replaced with a Raspberry Pi 4 and a demodulator that supports a USB 2.0 interface. As a result, the prospect of lowering the price was established. In addition, the large Yagi antenna was replaced with a handmade small magnetic loop antenna, and the prospect of miniaturization was established.

One of the drag-reducing technics in the pipe flow is microbubble injection. However, the drag reduction effect of microbubble injection into water flows often remains unclear, including their mechanisms. In addition, there are very few reports on drag reducing effect of microbubble injection into water pipe flows. This paper describes the experimental results of water-microbubble two phase flows in a horizontal pipe. The flow was visualized by using a high-speed camera and green laser sheet light. The streamline velocity profile was measured by using PIV and LDV system. As experimental results of the friction factor and velocity profile by using PIV, the drag reducing effect of microbubble injection was not observed in this experiment. The flow characteristics were quite similar to water single phase flow in this experiment.
